Digital Desk: Fresh reports of violence were reported from the Langol area in Imphal West on August 1, further exacerbating the tense situation in the region. The incident occurred shortly after two columns of the army, which were previously deployed at the site, were withdrawn.

According to sources, miscreants took advantage of the army's withdrawal and unleashed a wave of violence in the Langol area. The situation quickly escalated, and reports suggest that looting also took place in the affected region. The specific details of the violence and the extent of the looting are yet to be fully disclosed.

This incident comes in the aftermath of another tragic event that unfolded on July 31 when a major fire broke out at Canan Veng near the Minuthong commando complex in the Imphal East district. At least 17 houses were engulfed in flames, leaving devastation and destruction in its wake.

Local authorities and emergency services, including fire tenders from the Manipur Fire Service and the Police, struggled to control the inferno. Despite their best efforts, the fire caused significant damage to the affected houses and other structures in the vicinity.

While the exact cause of the fire is still under investigation, some residents in the area speculate that the blaze might have originated from an electric short circuit. The fire reportedly erupted at around 9 p.m. and rapidly spread to neighboring houses, leading to further destruction.
