Digital Desk: In a remarkable leap towards digital transformation, Nagaland has achieved a significant milestone by becoming the first state in north-east India to implement Aadhaar-Linked Birth Registration (ALBR). This pioneering initiative, aimed at streamlining birth registration through Aadhaar enrollment, is specifically designed for children aged 0 to 5 years. The launch event, graced by esteemed dignitaries, saw the inauguration of this groundbreaking service by Shri T. Mhabemo Yanthan, IAS, Commissioner of Nagaland.

The ALBR initiative is poised to revolutionize the way newborns and young children are registered in the state. Commissioner T. Mhabemo Yanthan, during the inauguration ceremony, emphasized the pivotal role that ALBR is set to play in ensuring comprehensive registration of infants and children within the age group of 0 to 5. He called for close collaboration among all levels of government to ensure the seamless implementation of ALBR across Nagaland's districts.

The Directorate of Economics and Statistics, Nagaland, which also functions as the Registrar for Birth and Death records, has seamlessly integrated into the UIDAI (Unique Identification Authority of India) ecosystem as the Registrar cum Enrolment Agency. This integration empowers the Directorate to spearhead child enrollment using the ALBR process, thereby extending the benefits of this transformative initiative to residents across all districts.

Col. Abhishek Koushik, Director of UIDAI, applauded the Nagaland Government for scripting a remarkable chapter in the region's digital transformation journey. He commended the unwavering efforts of the Office of the Commissioner, Nagaland, in providing Aadhaar-linked services to the state's residents. Col. Koushik celebrated the culmination of meticulous groundwork that led to this significant milestone.

The Aadhaar ecosystem has thrived on collaboration, and UIDAI remains steadfast in its commitment to support states in their digitization endeavors. Through workshops, door-to-door enrollments, and concerted efforts to reach even the remotest corners, UIDAI has actively partnered with the states. The Regional Office in Guwahati, working closely with the Office of the Commissioner Nagaland, has been instrumental in nurturing Aadhaar-related initiatives in the state.

Nagaland's pioneering step in introducing Aadhaar-linked birth registration not only demonstrates its commitment to digital progress but also sets an inspiring example for other states to follow. The initiative holds the promise of enhanced accessibility and coverage of birth registration for the youngest members of society, ensuring their rights and identities are recognized from the very start.
