Digital Desk: Prime Minister Narendra Modi led a momentous occasion during a historic visit to Arunachal Pradesh by unveiling the UNNATI scheme, which aims to support industrial growth in the North East and the inauguration of the Sela Tunnel in Itanagar.
Speaking to an enthusiastic audience, PM Modi emphasized his government's unwavering commitment to the area by stating, "I don't work for any region by looking at the number of seats it has in the Parliament. I work because you are my family."
The development measures that characterized the Prime Minister's visit were numerous and included projects that his government had carried out in the northeastern states.
"Hum hain Modi ka Parivaar" was the ecstatic response from the crowd when PM Modi asked a rhetorical question, "Kaan khol ke sunlo Parivarvaadio, kaun hai Modi ka Parivaar," mocking the rhetoric of the opposition.
PM Modi stated that he was grateful for the overwhelmingly positive response, "I have visited the state several times, but this is the first time I have witnessed such a huge crowd. Today, I got the opportunity to be a part of all the Northeastern states in this festival of a developed Northeast."
PM Modi launched several development projects across a range of industries, including housing, education, border infrastructure, rail, road, health, IT, power, and oil and gas, as part of the "Viksit Bharat Viksit North East" initiative. PM Modi stated, "Our vision is that of Ashta Lakshmi" for the Northeast's development, emphasizing a comprehensive vision for the area and underlining the region's growing importance in regional trade and tourism with South and East Asia.
Strengthening the industrial ecosystem in the North East is the goal of the Rs 10,000 crore UNNATI Scheme, a revolutionary industrialization initiative. It includes all eight of the northeastern states and is expected to encourage the opening of new service and manufacturing facilities, creating jobs in the process. The program provides incentives for capital investments, production, and services associated with approved units, as well as interest subvention.
A masterwork of engineering, the Sela Tunnel is the longest twin-lane tunnel in the world. It was built by the Border Roads Organisation (BRO) utilizing cutting-edge Austrian tunneling techniques. This strategically important infrastructure project, which will cost Rs 825 crore and be located at an elevation of 13,000 feet, will provide an all-weather connection to Tawang via the Sela pass, increasing the effectiveness of regional transportation.
Additionally, PM Modi dedicated and set the groundwork for numerous development projects in Arunachal Pradesh valued at over Rs 41,000 crore. These include the "Vibrant Village Programme," which encompasses several road, environmental, and tourism efforts, as well as the Dibang Multipurpose Hydropower Project, which is planned to be the nation's tallest dam construction. In addition, PM Modi dedicated 1100 Jal Jeevan Mission projects, 170 telecom towers under the Universal Service Obligation Fund, and over 35,000 dwellings under the Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana, benefiting over 300 communities.
