Digital Desk: Congress leader Rahul Gandhi slammed Prime Minister Narendra Modi recalling the horrific situation that occurred in Manipur for several months this year. Gandhi claimed that PM Modi was more concerned about what was occurring in Israel than in anything that was happening in Manipur when speaking at a rally for his party in Mizoram.

He claimed that the BJP had destroyed the concept of Manipur and that the state was no longer one entity. He claimed that although there were murders, molestation of women, and the killing of babies in the northeastern state, PM Modi did not think it was "important to travel" there.

"Amazingly, the Prime Minister and the Government of India are so interested in what is happening in Israel but not at all interested in what is happening in Manipur,” the former Congress chief stated.

Gandhi arrived in Mizoram on Monday for a two-day tour to raise support for his party ahead of the state's election for its 40-seat legislature on November 7. With a padayatra from Chanmari to Raj Bhawan in Aizawl, he began his campaign.

According to Lalremruata Renthlei, the head of the Mizoram Congress media cell, who was quoted by PTI, Gandhi is also scheduled to speak to students in the evening. He will meet party leaders on Tuesday to address a press conference in Aizawl. Additionally, he will also visit Lunglei town and speak at a public gathering there.

The results of Mizoram elections will be declared on December 3.
