    President Droupadi Murmu to inaugurate 5th Meghalaya Games in Tura
    President Murmu's attendance at the inauguration was verified by Chief Minister Conrad K. Sangma. 

    Digital Desk: The Fifth Meghalaya Games will be inaugurated at Tura under the direction of President Droupadi Murmu. For the first time, the Games will take place outside of Shillong city, with dates ranging from January 15 to January 20, 2024. 

    President Murmu's attendance at the inauguration was verified by Chief Minister Conrad K. Sangma. He posted on Instagram, saying that President Murmu's attendance in the Games "will be a great encouragement for the youth of our state."

    There will be competition for almost 3,000 competitors in 22 different disciplines. The traditional games of the Jaintia, Garo, and Khasi tribes will be included for the first time. More than Rs 23 crore has been set aside by the state government for the Games in Tura, West Garo Hills District.
