    Digital Desk: An Army soldier was killed after being abducted from his home in a village in Manipur. On Saturday, Sepoy Serto Thangthang Kom was kidnapped from his home in the Imphal West area and was on leave. The body of the Jawan was found on Sunday morning.

    Around 10 AM yesterday, unidentified armed men kidnapped him from his home. The only witness to the incident, his 10-year-old boy, said that three men entered their home while his father and he were working on the porch.

    According to Sepoy Kom's son, the unidentified miscreants forced him into a white car while pointing a gun at his head. Sepoy Kom's wife, son, and daughter are still alive.

    His body was found at Khuningthek village, east of Mongjam in Imphal East. His brother and brother-in-law, who reported that the soldier had a single bullet wound to his head, confirmed his identity.

    "We strongly condemn the killing of Sep Serto Thangthang Kom and stand by his family in these difficult times," the Jawan said in a statement.

    According to an official statement, the last rites will be conducted as per the wishes of the family. Army has sent a team immediately to assist the family in all manners possible, it said.
