Digital Desk: The Tripura government has unveiled an ambitious initiative aimed at improving the socio-economic condition of tribal communities in the state. The mission, known as the Mukhyamantri Tribal Development Mission, has received approval from the state cabinet and is set to receive an initial funding of Rs 30 crore. The mission aligns with the BJP's election manifesto and budgetary commitments for the current fiscal year.

Tourism Minister Sushanta Chowdhury, while addressing reporters, emphasized the significance of this mission, describing it as a "bold step towards the overall development of indigenous people." He further explained that the allocated funds would be utilized to enhance infrastructure, including roads and drinking water facilities, as well as focusing on skill development to equip the youth with job-ready capabilities.

The Tribal Welfare Department will soon initiate a registration process to identify and include eligible families in the mission. While it begins with a budget of Rs 30 crore, the government plans to increase the annual allocation in the coming years to sustain and expand its impact.

In an effort to ensure fair representation for tribal communities, the BJP-IPFT government had previously proposed increasing the seats in the Tripura Tribal Areas Autonomous District Council from 30 to 50. However, this proposal is still pending approval from the Centre.

Additionally, the council of ministers has decided to introduce an e-cabinet, aligning with Prime Minister Narendra Modi's vision for a paperless administrative system. Minister Chowdhury stated, "Since Prime Minister Narendra Modi laid emphasis on paperless work, we are also on the way to implement an e-cabinet. It will be beneficial for all."

The cabinet has also green-lighted the appointment of 125 physical education teachers and school librarians, with a particular focus on newly converted Vidyajyoti schools in the northeastern state. Tripura currently boasts 125 Vidyajyoti schools that follow the CBSE curriculum.

Furthermore, the government plans to fill 50 posts of supervisors in the Tribal and SC welfare departments, in line with its commitment to bolstering the education sector. Additionally, 75 assistant professors for the state's degree colleges and 14 faculty members for Ujjayanta University will be recruited, further contributing to the growth and development of the state's educational infrastructure.

The Mukhyamantri Tribal Development Mission reflects the government's dedication to improving the lives of tribal communities in Tripura, focusing on education, infrastructure, and skill development to create sustainable socio-economic progress.
