Digital Desk: In a chasing operation carried out by central paramilitary personnel at the violent-hit Manipur, two alleged drug smugglers, one from Assam and one from Manipur, were apprehended.
The police reported that they obtained a total of 27 kilogrammes of opium as well as one smuggling vehicle from the smugglers.
As per reports, an operation was initiated in Kangvai Bazar in the Churachandpur district by forces acting on a tip.
The hatchback was travelling from Churachandpur to Kwakta in the Bishnupur district when the frisking team discovered the illegal materials concealed beside the engine bay.
Police discovered from their early interrogation that the illegal commodities were to be transferred into Assam from Manipur.
Kabir Ahmed of Karimganj, Assam, and Md Abdul Barik of Bishnupur have been identified as the alleged smugglers.
According to police, a complaint has been filed against them under the NDPS Act of 1985.
The banned products, as well as the two alleged smugglers, were turned over to Churachandpur district police to undergo further legal processes, claimed the police.
