Digital Desk: Yumsen Matey, an Arunachal Pradesh MLA, was slain near the Indo-Myanmar border in Tirap district.
According to reports, the former MLA of Khonsa West seat was slain on the 16th of December evening by suspected extremists.
Matey went missing at a social function in Raho village, Lazu circle, which indicated that he was kidnapped according to reports. Following that, he was reportedly moved to the border area and brutally murdered. The assailants are speculated to have fled to Myanmar.
In 2015, Yumsem Matey joined the BJP (Bharat Janata Party).
Talking more about Yumsen Matey, was a politician from Lazu Village belonging to the OLLO community in Tirap District. He represented Khonsa West in Tirap district in the Arunachal Pradesh Assembly. He was a member of the Indian National Congress.
In 1992-93, he was the first OLLO Community graduate with a BA. Hons. in History from Government College, Itanagar, Arunachal Pradesh. He was also the Changlang District Adult Education Officer (DAEO).
Elected by the Indian National Congress as MLA from the 56th Khonsa West Assembly Constituency in 2009, to the post of Parliamentary Secretary; Department of Women and Social Welfare, Social Justice and Tribal Affairs, and DOTCL (Department of Tirap, Changlang, and Longding).
