During interrogation, he admitted that he is a member of the KCP(PWG) group and has been collecting money on behalf of the said organization
Digital Desk: The Ri-Bhoi District Police implemented counter-insurgency actions based on intelligence reports in Nongthymmai Byrnihat, which resulted in the arrest of Kangleipak Communist Party (People’s War Group) leader known as KCP(PWG) Khundongbam Herojit Meitei. Khundongbam Herojit Meitei resided in a rented house at Nongthymmai, as the police identified him as the arrested person.
According to the police sources, Herojit is the Finance Secretary of the Manipur-based militant organization and was involved in subversive activities such as extortion, not only in Meghalaya but also in several neighboring states. The police officials in their operation obtained two mobile phones along with various evidence of illegal substances from his possession.
Herojit revealed in his interrogation that he took part as an active member of KCP(PWG) and he accepted his role in fund collection duties for the group. Safety forces launched increased action against Manipur militant groups while he reportedly used the Assam-Meghalaya border area to hide from authorities.
The investigators have reason to suspect that Herojit participated in militant groups located in Myanmar and Nepal in a substantial criminal operation. A record shows two arrests in his history: the first stemmed from firearm possession in Manipur, followed by drug trafficking charges resulting in an arrest in Dimapur.
The officers have filed a case at Nongpoh Police Station and continue conducting a comprehensive investigation. The Meghalaya Police recently declared its dedication to enforcing law and order by strengthening observation of anti-social groups along with intensified legal prosecution methods in the region.
