Digital Desk: A wildfire erupted in the early hours of Friday near the Tawang Chu River of Sagkyur village in the Lungla sub-division of Tawang district, Arunachal Pradesh. Authorities maintained rapid action to prevent the fire from spreading to the nearby areas.
The wildfires were active in the densely forested region, where steep mountain terrain and inaccessibility pose significant challenges for fire containment. However, swift action by the authorities including the Lungla administration, Sashastra Seema Bal (SSB), Indian Army personnel from the Tawang Brigade, local police, and residents helped contain the fire near residential areas. According to reports, no loss of life or damage to property occurred due to the emergency situation.
The response operation is being led by Lungla’s Additional Deputy Commissioner Ama Nungnu Mar, and District Disaster Management Officer Genden Tsomu.
The incident underscores the exposure of the region to wildfires, particularly due to its challenging geography and dense forest cover. Authorities continue to monitor the situation closely, with all resources focused on minimizing damage and protecting both the environment and local communities.
The residents in the affected and nearby areas have been advised to stay alert and immediately report any developments to the authorities. Villagers have been advised to cooperate fully with the disaster response teams to ensure safety and quick containment efforts.
