    Mizoram: One Suspected Smuggler Apprehended, Heroin Worth 16 Lakh Seized By Assam Rifles

    Digital Desk: The Assam Rifles seized heroin worth over Rs 16 lakh from Zote of Champhai, Mizoram. One person was also apprehended in connection with the suspected smuggling of the heroin during the search operation. The smuggler was identified as Rorelkima, a 27-year-old man from Vanhne village of Lunglei.


    The apprehended man with a vehicle and recovered Heroin was later handed over to the Excise and Narcotics Department of Champhai for further investigation and legal action.    


    Earlier on January 17, Assam Rifles in collaboration with the Mizoram Police, seized a huge amount of Heroin from the Champhai district. The heroin weighing 46 grams worth over Rs. 34 lakh was recovered from PVCP Melbuk Road Junction of Champhai.


    On January 20, in a joint operation with Mizoram police, Assam Rifles apprehended one resident of Champhai with 260 cases of foreign-origin cigarettes worth Rs 3.38 crore from General Area Tuichang Bridge of Lawngtlai district. 


    Assam Rifles has achieved remarkable success in the crackdown on massive smuggling activities in different places of Mizoram. The ongoing smuggling cases have seen a significant rise in recent times in the state. The recovery of contraband items in various locations of Mizoram has
    concerned Mizoram citizens as they have been witnessing the growing threat of drug abuse in the state.
