Digital Desk: Tripura has achieved the second position in gross state domestic product (GSDP) growth among the Northeast states, Chief Minister Manik Saha announced during the 53rd Statehood Day celebrations at Rabindra Shatabarshiki Bhawan in Agartala on Tuesday.
Highlighting the state's progress, Saha emphasized the importance of peace for development, stating that the prevalence of peace has led to increased investment and tourist footfall. He credited the state’s advancement to the support of Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Union Home Minister Amit Shah. Saha also acknowledged the Centre’s assistance in managing last year’s devastating flood.
“Development in the Northeast is essential for the country’s progress. With this vision, PM Modi has implemented the Act East policy, focusing on initiatives like improved national highways, railways, and internet connectivity under the HIRA model,” Saha said.
The Chief Minister discussed various state schemes, such as the Tripura Industrial Investment Policy, Tripura StartUp Policy, Unnati scheme, Chief Minister Jan Arogya Yojana, and the Tripura Satellite Development Township Scheme. All these steps would contribute to furthering socioeconomic development, women's empowerment, and infrastructure in the state.
Saha said, "On this Statehood Day, we are committed to building a Viksit Tripura under the vision of 'Ek Tripura, Shreshtha Tripura'.
The Director-General of Police, Amitabha Ranjan, also said that peace was an important component of development, which the police needed to ensure. During the celebration, five civilian awards were given out along with ten Statehood Day awards and Chief Minister's Civil Service Awards.
This is one of the important landmarks on the development journey of Tripura, showing how much effort the state puts into growing and developing itself.
