Digital Desk: Pradyot Deb Barma will join Tripura’s BJP-led government ahead of the Lok Sabha elections. A senior leader of the BJP said on Wednesday that the main opposition party, Tripura Motha, will join the BJP.

In the 60-member Tripura assembly, Tipra Motha has 13 MLAs and is likely to get two berths, Tripura BJP president Rajib Bhattacharjee said.

Pradyot Kishore Manikya Debbarma, the founder of TIPRA Motha and a royal scion, told reporters that his party has chosen to join the BJP-IPFT government in Tripura and send two MLAs to be cabinet ministers. “We have decided to send two MLAs to become ministers in the cabinet. They are Animesh Debbarma and Brishaketu Debbarma. They will serve in the state government, but they will also be serving the people of Tripura through the party,” Pradyot said, as quoted by Hindustan Times.

Four days ago, in the presence of Union Home Minister Amit Shah, a tripartite agreement was signed by the Tipra Motha, the Centre, and the Tripura government to provide a long-term solution to the issues facing the state's indigenous population.

Regarding the motivation for their decision to enter the cabinet at this juncture, Pradyot Kishore stated that the ministers from TIPRA Motha would guarantee the right allocation of funds to the Tripura ADC and the implementation of the tripartite agreement reached with the Centre.
