New Zealand goes into lockdown again after detecting the first Covid case since February

Wellington: A nationwide lockdown was imposed in New Zealand as the country reported its first locally detected covid case since February.

The case reported was of the Delta Variant and was linked to the Covid-19 crisis in Australia which is worsening day by day as the cases in New South Wales shoot up to a record number of more than 600.

Despite staying in lockdown for the past 2 months, the country’s largest city Sydney has witnessed a surge of almost 32% from the previous daily high, which was just recorded 2 days ago.

6 more cases were detected in New Zealand and all were linked to the first case of the delta variant discovered on Tuesday.

Despite staying in lockdown for the past 2 months the country’s largest city Sydney has witnessed a surge of almost 32% from the previous daily high which was just recorded 2 days ago.

New Zealand has so far managed to keep the virus out of the community which allowed the country’s economy to recover quickly but the vaccine rollout has exposed it to another virus outbreak in the country mainly of the delta strain that has affected most parts of the world.
