Newly floated Bodo insurgent group threatens to carry out bomb blasts throughout Assam if demands not met

Guwahati: Cloud of uncertainty looms large over Bodoland again even before the Bodo peace pact could hold its roots firmly across the Bodoland Territorial Region (BTR).

A armed students’ group, named United Liberation for Bodoland (ULB), has been floated in Bodoland, with the demand ‘Divide Assam 50-50’.

The All Bodo Students’ Union (ABSU), kept struggling for decades with the same demand ‘Divide Assam 50-50’, till recently, when the BTR peace accord was signed on 27 January, 2020.

The BTR accord, the third Bodo peace pact was signed with all the four factions of National Democratic Front of Bodoland (NDFB), the All Bodo Students’ Union (ABSU) and United Bodo Peoples’ Organisation (UBPO).

The accord was expected to bring an end to the violent Bodoland movement for a separate state, which saw blood-shed in the region for several decades.

The newly floated ULB also demands immediate release of jailed founder of NDFB, Ranjan Daimary and it’s other other cadres.

The ULB has threatened to carry out bomb blasts throughout the state if their demands are not met immediately.
