    12 feared dead after bus and tanker collides on highway

    Jodhpur: On Wednesday, around 12 people were feared dead after a bus, and a tanker collided near Pachpadra on Barmer-Jodhpur Highway in Rajasthan.





    According to one of the passengers, the bus had left Balotra at 9:55 am. However, a tanker coming from the opposite side hit the bus, after which the bus caught fire.





    As per sources, there were around 25 people on the bus before the incident took place. Around 10 people were rescued safely from the accident site.





    After the accident, officials of district administration and police hurried to the spot. Pachpadra MLA Madan Prajapat, in-charge minister Sukhram Vishnoi, and several officers, including the divisional commissioner, further reached the spot.

    "Ten bodies have been recovered from the spot and one died at a hospital. Twenty-two others are injured. Eight critically injured persons have been referred to Jodhpur for treatment," stated Barmer Superintendent of Police, Deepak Bhargav.





    The accident occurred near Bhandiyawas village on the Barmer-Jodhpur National Highway. Sources stated that both vehicles caught fire after they collided.





    Chief Minister Ashok Gehlot urged the Barmer district authority to ensure proper treatment for those who were injuried in the accident. Gehlot tweeted, "Best possible treatment will be ensured for those injured in the accident."
