New Delhi: Parliament on Monday was informed that as many as 144 central infrastructure projects were delayed in completion in the current financial year. These delays have cost around ₹14,960.
“The list of central infrastructure projects that have listed delays in completion in the current financial year is at Annexure-I. The cost occupied of these 144 projects is Rs 14960.02 crore,” Statistics Minister Rao Inderjit Singh stated in a written response to a question in the Rajya Sabha.

The Minister informed that significant measures were undertaken to guarantee the completion of central sector infrastructure projects without the time and cost overruns included a periodic review of projects under PRAGATI through video conferencing, rigorous project appraisal, and an online computerized monitoring system.
These measures also included setting up updated cost panels in the ministries to fix time and cost overruns accountability. It was supposed to look after the regular review of infrastructure schemes by the concerned administrative ministries; set up central sector schemes coordination boards in the states under the chief secretaries to remove bottlenecks.
