2,000 travellers stranded on Mumbai-Goa cruise ship after crew tests Covid positive

Digital Desk: More than 2,000 travellers are reported stuck on the Mumbai-Goa Cordelia cruise ship after a crew member tested positive for the Covid contagion.

The ship is currently docked at Mormugao cruise terminal, after arriving from Mumbai.

Health authorities are testing all the 2,000 passengers onboard the cruise ship. The people are eagerly waiting for their test results as they remain stranded inside the ship.

Authorities have requested the people to remain inside the cruise ship until their results are out. All passengers and other crew members are being tested for the contagion through the Vasco-based Salgaonkar Medical Research Centre (SMRC) Hospital.

In the mean time, reports have suggested that only one crew member has tested positive for the contagion via antigen test while the ship was still on its way to Goa, with over 2,000 passengers on board. RT-PCR tests are being conducted on all on-board as the test results will be announced soon. Till then, not one person has been allowed to disembark from the ship until test results are out.

Meanwhile, the Goa government is aiming to vaccinate all 72,000 children in its territory, between the age group 15-18 years against Covid-19 with the first dose in the next four days, state health minister Vishwajit Rane said on Sunday.
