Assam CM's wife has violated the Ceiling Act, claims Sivsagar MLA Akhil Gogoi
Gogoi emphasized the Ceiling Act when he declared that no one, not even a member of his family, could own more than 50 bighas of land...

Digital Desk: Sibsagar legislator Akhil Gogoi slammed Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma over his wife's suspected receipt of Rs 10 crore as part of a credit-linked subsidy from the Central Government.

While addressing the media, the Sibsagar MLA Gogoi said, "I have opened a cooperative society...I challenge Himanta Biswa Sarma to open one like me...I dare him to open a cooperative society in the name of the all land acquired by him."

Slamming Himanta Biswa Sarma's wife, Akhil Gogoi stated that Riniki Bhuyan Sarma also bought 56 bighas of land on July 1, 2023, in addition to taking more than 50 bighas of agricultural land in the Nagaon district of Assam after Himanta became the Chief Minister.

Gogoi emphasized the Ceiling Act when he declared that no one, not even a member of his family, could own more than 50 bighas of land.

According to the Land Ceiling Act, a person will hold the maximum area limit of the land. If someone held more than the maximum limit, the Indian government would take it away from them. According to this Act, a person is only permitted to own a specific land area, which is 2,000 square meters.

Gogoi denied collecting money from the Lohia group of enterprises, saying, "In the name of Topcem cement, we with the help of the state government have taken back from him all the land acquired by Lohia in the Guwahati city which is 102 bigha land."

Gogoi added, "The land was in the name of Bajrang Lohia on behalf of Topcem cement...because of acquiring land more than 50 bighas.. the government took back 102 bighas of land from him for violating the ceiling act."
