Digital Desk: In response to the controversy over the Union Government's renaming of India as Bharat,
Congress MP Gaurav Gogoi stated that both 'India' and 'Bharat' names are acceptable and that he takes pride in both.
The clamour to rename India as Bharat by modifying the Constitution has grown stronger, and sources say the Centre may introduce a resolution to do so. Meanwhile, the Opposition group has expressed strong opposition to the government's resolution.
Congress leader Gaurav Gogoi claimed in response to the controversy over the name 'India' in the Constitution, "We accept both 'India' and 'Bharat' names and feel proud of them. The 'I' in
ISRO is India, the "I" in IITs is India, the 'I' in IIMs is India, and the 'I' in IPS is India. The BJP's politics has stooped so low because they are afraid of the INDIA (opposition) alliance."
Watch what more Congress leader Gaurav Gogoi has to say:
Previously, Congress lawmaker Jairam Ramesh said on platform X, "This change in nomenclature has added a new layer to the evolving discourse on India's official name. So the news is correct. Rashtrapati Bhawan has invited to a G20 dinner on September 9th in the name of 'President of Bharat' rather than the usual 'President of India'."
"Article 1 of the Constitution now reads, Bharat, that was India, shall be a Union of States. But today the 'Union of States' is under attack." it further added.
