Digital Desk: Congress President Mallikarjun Kharge has expressed strong confidence that the grand old party will secure victory in all five states heading to the polls next month. In an interview with ANI, Kharge voiced his conviction that anti-incumbency is growing in the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP)-ruled state of Madhya Pradesh. He further highlighted the performance of Congress-led governments in Chhattisgarh and Rajasthan, asserting that they have been effectively addressing the needs of their constituents.

The upcoming assembly elections, scheduled for November, are anticipated to be a significant political event, with voters in Telangana, Madhya Pradesh, Rajasthan, Chhattisgarh, and Mizoram casting their ballots. The election dates are as follows: Mizoram on November 7, Chhattisgarh on November 7 and November 17, Madhya Pradesh on November 17, Rajasthan on November 25, and Telangana on November 30. The results will be announced on December 3 in all five states.

Kharge confidently stated, "Congress' preparations for the elections in these five states are going well. We are confident that we will win in all the states. There has been anti-incumbency for the BJP, mainly attributed to inflation and unemployment, especially in Madhya Pradesh." He emphasized that the public in Madhya Pradesh has been turning against the Shivraj Singh Chouhan-led BJP government.

The Congress leader did not mince words when it came to his assessment of the BJP's performance at the national level, accusing the party of failing to fulfill its election promises. Kharge remarked, "Whatever promises were made, the BJP did not fulfill even a single promise, be it unemployment, doubling farmers' income, or investment."

During his visit to Kalaburgi, Kharge also alleged that the central government has been neglecting Karnataka. He stated, "No central projects are being allocated to Karnataka," underscoring the ongoing political tensions between the central government and some state governments, particularly those led by opposition parties.

As election fever heats up, it's clear that the Congress and BJP remain central players in Chhattisgarh, Madhya Pradesh, and Rajasthan. Meanwhile, Telangana is poised to witness a three-way battle, with the ruling Bharat Rashtra Samithi, Congress, and BJP vying for power.

In the 2018 Madhya Pradesh assembly elections, the Congress won 114 out of 230 seats, securing a 41.5% vote share, while the BJP claimed 109 seats with a 41.6% vote share. The Congress government lost its majority in 2020 due to the resignation of several MLAs loyal to Jyotiraditya Scindia, who subsequently joined the BJP. This political maneuver resulted in the BJP taking power, with Shivraj Singh Chouhan serving as Chief Minister.

Rajasthan boasts 200 assembly seats, and in the 2018 elections, the Congress came close to a majority by winning 99 seats. They formed the government with the support of BSP and independent MLAs, amassing a 39.8% vote share. Over the last five years, Ashok Gehlot has been the Chief Minister, with the BJP securing 73 seats and a 39.3% vote share in the 2018 polls.

In Telangana, the ruling Bharat Rashtra Samithi clinched 88 of the 119 seats and a substantial 47.4% vote share in the 2018 elections, with the Congress trailing behind at a distant second with 19 seats and a 28.7% vote share.

The Congress swept into power in Chhattisgarh during the 2018 elections, securing 68 out of 90 seats in the state assembly with a vote share of 43.9%. The BJP won 15 seats and garnered a 33.6% vote share.

In the 2018 Mizoram assembly elections, the Mizo National Front secured 26 out of 40 seats with a 37.8% vote share, emerging as the winner. The Congress managed to secure five seats, while the BJP won just one.

As the countdown to the elections continues, political parties are actively preparing for these pivotal contests. Campaigns are in full swing, with party leaders addressing rallies and unveiling their promises to the electorate. The coming weeks promise to be an exciting and crucial period for Indian politics, with the battle for power in these five states intensifying.
