Digital Desk: The Zoramthanga-led Mizo National Front (MNF) may not win a majority but would still be the biggest party in Mizoram, according to an ABP-CVoter exit poll. On November 7, Mizoram, which has been governed by MNF since 2018, held elections.
Even though the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) was involved, a three-way battle between the MNF, the main opposition Zoram People's Movement (ZPM), and the Congress is anticipated in the hill state.
The largest party in the hill state, MNF, is expected to receive anything from 15 to 21 seats, according to the ABP-CVoter exit poll. The Congress is expected to receive two to eight seats, while the regional party ZMP is expected to receive twelve to eighteen.
With its shaky hold on the northeastern state, the BJP is probably going to pick up zero to five seats.
On November 7, Mizoram Election 2023 voters turned out in force to fill 40 assembly seats, with a voter turnout of a healthy 77 percent. On December 3, there will be a vote count.
The electoral campaign in Mizoram was dominated, not only by concerns about jobs and other matters but also by the ethnic rivalry between the Metei and Kuki communities in neighbouring Manipur.
In addition to the Aam Aadmi Party's four seats up for grabs and the 27 independent candidates running, MNF, ZPM, and Congress have each nominated candidates for forty seats.
With a particular emphasis on areas inhabited by linguistic minorities, particularly those where the Reang and Chakma tribal populations are represented in respectable numbers in the voter list, the BJP has fielded candidates for 23 seats.
