This announcement was made through an official statement released on Friday. Additionally, Yanthungo Patton, the Deputy Chief Minister of Nagaland, and Anil Antony, the party's National General Secretary, have been designated as election co-incharges. The BJP's strategic move underlines their commitment to making a strong electoral bid in Mizoram.
In a countermove, Congress leader Rahul Gandhi is set to visit Mizoram on October 16, ahead of the impending state election. He is expected to spend two days in the region. Mathew Anthony, the AICC Media Coordinator & Mizoram In-charge, stated that during his visit, Rahul Gandhi would engage with the people, walking from the Chandmari junction to the Treasury Bhawan to promote the values of love, peace, and secularism for the betterment of both Mizoram and the nation.
Rahul Gandhi is scheduled to conclude his Mizoram trip on October 18, 2023, following a press conference at the Aizwal Press Club in the morning. This visit by the Congress leader sets the stage for an intriguing political battle in the forthcoming Mizoram election.
Simultaneously, the BJP reinforced its organizational structure by appointing Jatinder Pal Malhotra as the President of the Chandigarh BJP, consolidating its presence in the region.
