AAP seeks Congress' removal from INDIA bloc

Digital Desk : Ahead of Delhi Assembly elections, the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) seeks removal of Congress party from INDIA bloc. This has sparked a political rift between the two parties within the INDIA alliance. AAP will seek support from other allies of INDIA bloc to oust Congress from the alliance if no action is taken against Congress leader and party treasurer Ajay Maken. On Wednesday, Ajay Maken criticized AAP convenor Arvind Kejriwal and called him 'anti national'.

AAP RS MP Sanjay Singh at a press conference in Delhi said, "We will ask the other parties to remove the Congress. Congress leader Ajay Maken called Arvind Kejriwal 'anti-national', party must take action against him in 24 hours. AAP to ask INDIA bloc parties to remove Congress from alliance if no action taken against Ajay Maken."

The AAP has also given a 24 hour ultimatum to the Congress to take action against Ajay Maken. Attending the press conference with Sanjay Singh, Delhi Chief Minister Atishi said, "Congress' action makes it clear that the party has made some arrangements with the BJP for Delhi elections."

Despite campaigning for the Congress in past elections, Kejriwal now faced an FIR, while the Congress had never filed a single FIR against any BJP leader, he added Congress is already facing troubles within the INDIA bloc as endorsement of Mamata Banerjee to take over the INDIA bloc leadership has come forward.

The assembly elections in Delhi is expected to be held in February 2025. However, the Election Commission of India has yet not announced the dates.
