Digital Desk: In an attempt to woo first-time voters and young voters, Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) leader Arvind Kejriwal on Friday promised free bus travel for all the students in school and college and 50 % Metro fare subsidies for all students in the upcoming Delhi Assembly polls. He also called on the Centre to bear half the cost of these schemes and wrote to Prime Minister Narendra Modi demanding help with the proposed cut in Metro fares.

Highlighting the rising cost of Metro travel, Kejriwal said, “The Delhi Metro is a lifeline of students, but it is very costly and many cannot afforded by many it. The Delhi Metro is an equal joint venture with the Centre and Delhi government and I have sought the Prime Minister’s permission to offer 50% student concession, half of which will be borne by the students.
Kejriwal stated these measures aim to reduce financial burdens on students and ensure uninterrupted access to education. He challenged the BJP to adopt these promises in its manifesto, questioning why students should vote for them if they don’t. AAP has also promised it would offer schemes like ₹2,100 monthly assistance to women, free treatment to senior citizens, immediate write-off on inflated water bills, and free foreign education to Dalit students. The BJP has yet to respond to these announcements.
