Eknath Shinde will preside over the disaster management meeting after Orange Alert issued in Maharashtra

Digital Desk: Eknath Shinde, the chief minister of Maharashtra,
will preside over a meeting of the state disaster management department today evening
    at Mumbai's Mantralaya.

This comes after Maharashtra saw heavy rainfall recently.

As heavy rains pounded Mumbai and caused water logging in
various areas of the city, the Indian Meteorological Department (IMD) issued an
    orange alert.

In the entire city, train and bus services came to a halt. Heavy rain was experienced in a number of areas in Mumbai, including Kurla,
    Chembur, Sion, Dadar, and Andheri.

The inaugural cabinet meeting of the new Maharashtra government
was conducted on Thursday night in Mumbai with Chief Minister Eknath Shinde and
    Deputy Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis.

Additionally, the Maharashtra Cabinet has chosen to schedule a
two-day special session of the state assembly for July 2 and July 3.

On Thursday, Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) leader Devendra
Fadnavis and rebel Shiv Sena MLA Eknath Shinde were sworn in as the new chief
minister and deputy chief minister, respectively, of Maharashtra.

After the Shinde-led faction continued to grow in size and
the Supreme Court approved a floor test in the assembly, Mr. Thackeray resigned
    on Wednesday.

The 2019 assembly elections were contested jointly by the
BJP and Shiv Sena, however disagreements emerged over the position of Chief
    Minister.
