New Delhi : India National Congress party released its third candidature list of 18 candidates of which five are from Assam.
The candidate list was declared after a central election committee meeting. Out of the 18 candidates, five are from Assam, eight from Telangana, two in Meghalaya and one each in Nagaland, Sikkim and UP.
Of the five elected candidates from Assam, Swarup Das has been fielded from Karimganj, All India Mahila Congress President Sushmita Dev from Silchar, sitting MP Gaurav Gogoi from Kaliabor, Sushanta Borgohain from Jorhat. Former Union Minister Paban Singh Ghatowar will be fighting from Dibrugarh.
Former Chief Minister of Meghalaya Mukul Sangma will contest from Tura. While Former Union Minister, Vincent H Pala who is also a sitting MP has been fielded from Shillong.
K L Chishi will be contesting from Nagaland and Bharat Basnett from Sikkim.
On the other hand Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) will be releasing its first list of candidates on March 16th, 2019 as per reports. BJP will be conducting an election committee meeting likely to be chaired by Prime Minister Narendra Modi and BJP President Amit Shah at the party headquarters in New Delhi. It is after the meeting the committee will be releasing its candidate list.
