Digital Desk: Members of Parliament (MPs) and Union ministers are provided with numerous amenities, although the Prime Minister of the country is not among them. According to an RTI response, Prime Minister Modi pays all of his food expenses and not a single rupee is spent on it from the government budget.

The Prime Minister's Office (PMO) has provided this information on the question asked through RTI. The Prime Minister's Office Secretary, Binod Bihari Singh, responded to the RTI by stating that not even one cent of the government budget is used to pay for the PM's lunch.

In addition, the Prime Minister's home (PM Awas) is protected by the Central Public Works Department. Whereas the SPG is in charge of the vehicles. Salary information was also sought through RTI, but only by referring to the guidelines was information given to make increments as per the rules.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi was elected to the Lok Sabha in 2014 after winning the Lok Sabha elections. Following that, on March 2, 2015, during the budget session, he unexpectedly made it to the canteen on the first floor of Parliament House.

The present government has implemented numerous modifications to the parliamentary canteen. On January 19, 2021, Lok Sabha Speaker Om Birla abolished the subsidies provided to MPs in the Parliament's canteen. Prior to 2021, subsidies in Parliament canteens cost Rs. 17 crores.
