Guwahati : After a week full of political drama continuing in BJP bandwagon, senior BJP leader and sitting Tezpur Lok Sabha MP Ram Prasad Sarmah has finally resigned from BJP.
In a public post published on Facebook RP Sarmah has openly declared his resignation sighting displeasure over his party’s sidelining him and not giving him the election ticket for the upcoming Lok Sabha elections, 2019.
RP Sarmah mentioned in the post that he was utterly disheartened and shocked to see his own party not providing him an election ticket even after serving for 15 years in RSS/VHP and 29 years in BJP.
“I felt greatly insulted when my name, a sitting MP and the President of Assam Gorkha Sammelan, did not find place in panel sent up by the state BJP committee. Friends and the people of Assam and my constituency, I will continue to serve you till the end of my life,” said RP Sarmah in the Facebook post.
RP Sarmha also added that he will continue to serve his people even if not a part of BJP any more.
Speculations of RP Sarmah’s resignation started hovering around the party since last week when the names of candidate list was announced within its party domain in which RP Sarmah did not find any mention.
