    "Until now we were enemies, but now we are family": Rupjyoti Kurmi at the by-elections

    Mariani: The by-elections to five constituencies of Assam are underway. The voting process began at 7 in the morning and shall continue till 5 pm in the evening. The results of the by-elections will be announced on November 2. Rupjyoti Kurmi, who is in fray for the polls, is standing for the polls on BJP ticket for Mariani constituency.





    Speaking on the election process, "I am happy after joining BJP. Until now we were enemies, but after joining the party, BJP welcomed me under their umbrella like a family member. Whatever plans of development and promises of change I had envisioned, BJP is fulfilling them and I am extremely happy about it."

    Highlighting on the issues of price rise, Rupjyoti Kurmi claimed that the common people have understood why the prices of fuel have risen. "The people have shown their support and have understood that the price rise is not alone in Assam, but in other states of the country as well. Its due to the rise in price in the international market due to which the country is facing the trouble now," added Kurmi.





    Hailing the BJP party for their numerous schemes and developmental projects, Rupjyoti Kurmi asserted that the public is showing their love and support and will continue to do so if change takes place.





    "Congress and Raijor Dal are fake", said Kurmi. The former Congress leader slammed the two parties for being useless and unable to attract the public in today's elections.





    As many as 31 candidates are in fray for the by-elections, out of which eight are in each Gossaigaon and Bhabanipur LAC, six in Tamulpur, four in Mariani and five in Thowra LAC.

    A total 7, 96,456 general electors will exercise their right to franchise, of which, 4, 03,374 are males; 3, 93,078 are females and 4 are transgender. Apart from these, there are also 3,165 service voters. 8, 864 electors are above 80 years of age and 4, 998 falls under the PwD category.
