Guwahati: On Saturday, Chief Minister of Assam, Dr. Himanta Biswa Sarma, stated that a Hindu boy lying to a Hindu girl is also equally claimed to be Jihad. He added by saying that the cabinet will bring upon law against it.
During the press meet, the CM briefly stated " "Hindu boy lying to a Hindu girl is also Jihad. We will bring a law against it."
"Hindutva is 5,000 years old and way of life. Adherents of most religions are descendants of Hindus," he continued.
BJP abhors from using the term "Love Jihad" as it is evenly accepted when even a Hindu Boy does cheat a Hindu girl for marriage. The term, which is often used by the right-wing, demands to be eliminated and that an equivalent law for both Hindus and Muslims need to be tabled soon, added CM Sarma.
Further, he had also talked about Delta Variant in Assam, stating, "As of now, there is no Delta plus variant of COVID-19 in Assam. We are doing genomic sequencing in the state. Prime Minister Narendra Modi will hold a meeting to take stock of vaccination status in northeastern states on Tuesday at 11 am."
Regarding the conflict between the neighboring states, the Chief Minister said, "Some tension is going on in both Assam-Nagaland and Assam-Mizoram borders. Assam Police has been deployed to protect our constitutional boundary. Being the gateway to the northeast, we are always open to discussions but do not encroach on our land."
Additionally, he also stated that "The State will have a new independent Department of Indigenous Faith and Culture."
