    14 People were arrested by the Assam Police for allegedly supporting the Taliban

    Guwahati: 14 people were arrested by the Assam Police on Saturday for allegedly posting objectionable, adverse posts on social media supporting the Taliban.





    Supporters were arrested by the police from 10 districts of the state. The supporters include three Maulanas and an MBBS student of Tezpur Medical College. The medical student belongs to Hailakandi who is pursuing MBBS from Tezpur Medical College and Hospital.





    According to reports, police have also received information on another three persons who are staying Abroad.





    The arrested persons are Maulana Fazul Karim from Darrang district, Abu Bakkar Siddique from Kamrup (R), Saidul Haque from Kamrup (R), Jawed Mazumder from Cachar, Mozidul Islam from Barpeta, Faruk Hussain Khan from Barpeta, Saiyad Ahmed from Dhubri, Arman Hussain from Dhubri, Nadim Akhtar from Hailakandi, Khandakar Nur Alom from South Salmara, Maulana Yaseen Khan from Goalpara, Maulana Basiruddin Laskar from Hojai, Mujib Uddin from Karimganj and Mortuza Hussain Khan from Karimganj.
