2 Myanmar Nationals Held With Explosives in Mizoram
Authorities had confiscated a sizable shipment of suspected heroin during the operation. Based on information about a potential smuggling attempt, the CID (SB) and Kanhmun Police Station in the Mamit district carried out the operation.

Digital Desk: The Assam Rifles and the Customs Department together conducted an operation in Mizoram on Monday, during which they recovered a huge amount of explosive items.

During the joint operation, authorities not only detain two citizens of Myanmar but also explosives. 100 detonators and eight rolls of detonating cables were discovered during the entire seizure, they reported.

The Customs Department, Land Custom Station (LCS) Champhai, and the police were given the confiscated cache of explosives and the detained suspects, according to officials, so that additional legal actions could be taken.

It should be noted that the violence committed by the Myanmar fascist regime against its citizens has led to an increase in the number of Myanmarese refugees in recent years. On January 13, five persons, including a citizen of Myanmar, were detained on the outskirts of Luimawi, Mizoram, on suspicion of smuggling heroin.

Authorities had confiscated a sizable shipment of suspected heroin during the operation. Based on information about a potential smuggling attempt, the CID (SB) and Kanhmun Police Station in the Mamit district carried out the operation.

On the borders of Luimawi in the Mamit district, authorities stopped a truck. After examination, 1.161 kilos of heroin contained in 89 soap cases were found. In the international markets, they calculated that the seizure would be worth about Rs 5.8 crores.

Along with Lalsangkima (39), Lalfelpuia (35), Sanglianthawn (36), Lalrinchhana (32) and Myanmar national Pyinkhonegyi, police also detained the truck's driver, Lalrinfela, a 35-year-old inhabitant of Zotland in Aizawl.

A hideaway in Poonch district was busted earlier in the day by members of the Indian Army's Romeo Force together with Jammu and Kashmir police, according to the police. Police said they found a cache of weapons and ammunition there.

"In a joint operation, the Indian Army's Romeo Force and the police busted a hideaway in Surankot Sector near Sindara village in Poonch district and confiscated 3 AK 47 weapons, 28 rounds, magazines, and an Under Barrell Grenade Launcher (UBGL)," according to a press release from the police.
