    2 dead, dozen others injured in today's earthquake in Assam

    Guwahati: At least 2 persons have been reported dead while dozen others escaped with minor injuries in today's tremendous earthquake that hit the state at 7:52 am.

    The deceased have been identified as Nagaon, Bebejiya's 55 year old Labanya Saikia Baishya and Prasanna Kalita, 70 years old. Apart from this, a person identified as Sabirul Hussain was seriously injured when bricks from his residence fell on him.

    Assam woke up to a tremendous earthquake of magnitude 6.7 on Richter scale with the epicenter being Dhekiajuli in Sonitpur, Assam, today morning. People rushed out of their homes and workplaces as aftershocks were felt for some time. Reports of damages to property, land slides were reported from various regions.
