Digital Desk: At least two people were severely injured after being attacked by a one-horned rhinoceros in Assam's Kaziranga National Park on Saturday. Reportedly, the incident happened in the Borbeel area of the national park's Kohora forest range, while they were fixing a broken road within the park.
Binod Saro, a forest worker in the national park, and Jiban Saro, a local youth, were injured in the attack. The injured were taken to the civil hospital in Kohora.
Forest Range Officer Bibhuti Ranjan Gogoi stated that the attack took place near the Borbeel anti-poaching camp area.
"Two persons got injured after being attacked by a female rhino while they were engaged in a patrolling road clearance work. In the rhino attack incident, our forest worker Binod Saro and a local youth named Jiban Saro both suffered injuries. We sent them to Jorhat Medical College and Hospital for further treatment after providing initial care at Kohora Civil Hospital," he said.
Meanwhile, the forest department rescued the injured and transported them to a Kahora hospital before sending them to Jorhat for further treatment.
Earlier this month, a woman was badly injured in a rhino attack in Hatikhuli Tea Estate, which is located on the outskirts of Assam's Kaziranga National Park.
The rhino escaped from Kaziranga National Park and Tiger Reserve (KNPTR) about two months ago and is now roaming the area.
In a similar incident, Moheshwar Hazarika, a forest department employee, was killed in a rhino attack inside Kaziranga National Park in January 2021.
