24-year-old man lynched in Assam's Dibrugarh, family demands justice

Digital Desk: A horrifying incident has shaken the residents of Assam's Dibrugarh district, where 24-year-old Tomlu Sonar tragically lost his life after being allegedly lynched by a group of youths. The incident unfolded on Wednesday night in the Alubari locality, reportedly stemming from a last argument.

According to sources, the attack, led by Deepjyoti Rajbongshi and approximately 11-12 others, resulted in severe injuries to Tomlu, including a ruptured food pipe due to continuous beating. He was rushed to Assam Medical College and Hospital (AMCH) for urgent medical attention but, despite efforts by medical staff, succumbed to his injuries the following day, July 11.

The bereaved family of Tomlu Sonar is devastated and demanding justice for their loss. His wife expressed deep anguish, stating, "I want justice for my deceased husband. He never mentioned why the youths attacked him. Deepjyoti Rajbongshi brutally attacked my husband, leading to his death. I demand stringent action against him."

Tomlu's mother recounted the shock and grief upon hearing the news, lamenting, "My sweet and simple son would leave home early in the morning. They finished him."

The tragic incident has prompted an inquiry by the Dibrugarh police to discover the motives behind the attack. Authorities are under pressure to swiftly apprehend the suspects involved and ensure they face the full extent of the law.
