Assam Police DGP Kuladhar Saikia said three FIRs have been filed against West Bengal Chief Minister and Trinamool Congress (TMC) supremo Mamata Banerjee in the state.
3 FIRs filed against West Bengal CM Mamata Banerjee, says “not scared”
“The FIRs have been filed at the three police stations under sections 120B (criminal conspiracy), 153A (promoting enmity between different groups on grounds of religion, 294 (obscene acts and songs) and 506 (criminal intimidation) of the IPC,” he told during a presser here on Thursday.
The FIRs have been filed for her “instigating remarks” over the Assam NRC draft, which poses “threat to disrupt the peace and harmony in the country”.
The FIRs have been filed in Guwahati’s Pan Bazar and Basistha police stations on Thursday and Lakhimpur police station on Wednesday.
On the other hand, Mamata told reporters in Kolkata, “They (BJP) have done such a great thing. I am sitting here in West Bengal while the FIRs have been filed in Assam. I am not scared. I am not going to bog down, come what may.”
She added, “I was in a meeting with Arvind Kejriwal in Delhi when the FIRs were filed. There is no democracy in the country; a situation of super emergency is prevailing across the country. If everything is peaceful then why is the government behaving in this manner?”
The eight-member delegation of TMC which visited Silchar on Thursday on a two-day Assam trip was not allowed to leave the Silchar airport and some of the members of the delegation alleged that they were physically assaulted.
“We apprehended that if they went to those places there could be trouble and thus we had to stop them,” Saikia said.
The delegation comprised party MPs Sukhendu Sekhar Roy, Kakoli Ghosh Dastidar, Ratna De Nag, Nadimul Haque, Arpita Ghosh, Mamata Thakur and MLA Mohua Moitra.
“I have a pacemaker in my chest. I was hit on my chest by one of the Police Officers. They had also manhandled Kakoli Ghosh Dastidar, Mamata Bala Thakur and Mahua Moitra,” Roy told the media
