Digital Desk: Authorities are engaged in a frantic search for 8-year-old Avilash Sarkar, who was tragically swept away by floodwaters from a roadside drain in Guwahati's Jyoti Nagar locality. Despite intensive efforts by the State Disaster Relief Fund (SDRF) and city police, including the use of specialized equipment like super suckers and excavators, the boy remains missing after 36 hours.
The heart-wrenching incident occurred during heavy rainfall on Thursday night when Avilash Sarkar was riding a scooter with his father and another individual. In a sudden turn of events on the slippery road, the scooter skidded, causing the young boy to fall into the drain's fast-flowing current. Despite his father's immediate attempt to rescue him, the force of the water swiftly carried Avilash away.
The Chandmari Police Station was promptly alerted, initiating a search operation throughout the night with assistance from SDRF personnel. Avilash Sarkar, a resident of Bhawani Pur in Noonmati, had just completed his exams the previous day and had spent time at his father's shop before the tragic incident unfolded.
The entire community is in shock and mourning over the loss, rallying together in hopes of locating Avilash and supporting his family during this devastating time.
As efforts continue to find the young boy, authorities, and volunteers remain committed to finding answers and providing closure to his loved ones.
