    4 suspected aides of Amritpal Singh flown to Assam’s Dibrugarh jail
    The news comes as Amritpal Singh, the leader of the "Waris De Punjab," is the target of a broad police investigation by the Punjab Police, which is working to apprehend him.

    Digital Desk: On Sunday, amid heavy security, four suspected associates of the missing radical Sikh preacher Amritpal Singh were brought to Dibrugarh, Assam.

    The Dibrugarh Deputy Commissioner and Superintendent of Police met the four suspects at Mohanbari Airport. They have been kept at the Dibrugarh Central Jail.  Superintendent of Police Tejbir Singh Hundal, an SP-rank member of the Punjab Police, commanded the team that brought the four people who had been arrested to Assam.

    Four detained allies of Khalistani leader Amritpal Singh were recently airlifted to Dibrugarh by a Special Air Force plane, according to a top police source. Very likely, they'll be held in the Dibrugarh Central Prison. A 27-member Punjab Police team, including the IG Prison, is accompanying them, the source added.

    The four suspects' involvement in the Amritpal Singh case has not yet been established by the police, and it is still unclear how they will get to Assam. For the time being, the police are unwilling to provide any information.

    The news comes as Amritpal Singh, the leader of the "Waris De Punjab," is the target of a broad police investigation by the Punjab Police, which is working to apprehend him.

    Up to 78 members of the group were detained for questioning while others were arrested by the Punjab Police.
    Six to seven gunmen associated with Amritpal Singh have been detained by police, according to Jalandhar Police Commissioner Kuldeep Singh Chahal.

    Earlier in the day, the suspension of mobile internet and SMS services, under the geographical jurisdiction of Punjab, was extended till March 20.

    In the meantime, a new FIR has been lodged in the illegal arms case against extremist preacher Amritpal Singh and his associates.
