Assam Pradesh Congress Committee President and Rajya Sabha MP Ripun Bora on Monday said that the number of persons excluded from the Complete Draft NRC is “abnormally high”.
The Assam Government released the 2nd and final draft of National Register of Citizen (NRC) on Monday 2,89,83,677 persons were found eligible out of 3,29,91,384 applicants in the final draft of the NRC. Names of 4,007,707 people were not included in the final draft NRC.
“The NRC update process is filled with anomalies, political influence has led to such high figure in regard to the exclusion of people from the list” said Bora.
As per the exercise, those who have entered Assam after March 24, 1971 will be viewed as illegal immigrants. “Intensive revision of voter list in 1985 & 1987 showed only 3.5 lakh D voters than how another 36.5 lakh people were dropped. It seems BJP is trying to play politics of polarisation (sic)”, tweeted Bora post the publication of the final draft of the NRC.
Bora met Singh at parliament house, New Delhi on July 19 and submitted a memorandum.
