    7,306 Pakistanis Have Applied for Indian Citizenship: MHA

    New Delhi: About 7,306 Pakistanis have applied for Indian Citizenship, informed Minister of State for Home Affairs Nityananda Rai on Wednesday.

    While replying to the question of MP Abdul Wahab in the Parliament session, Rai said that 10,635 applicants from other countries applied for Indian Citizenship till December 14, 2021. Out of these applicants, 7,306 were Pakistani, while 1,152 were from Afghanistan, 428 were stateless, 189 were from Nepal, 161 were from Bangladesh, and 223 were from Sri Lanka and the United States.





    Moreover, he added that 10 applicants were also from China.





    Notably, the Ministry of Home Affairs has the power to grant Indian Citizenship that approves the requisition after going through a detailed verification process.
