    A New Beginning: Assam observes New Year with a Beacon of Hope

    Digital Desk: Business has begun as usual, streets busy with moving vehicles. Citizens are thronging to the temples early morning, as Assam observes New Year with a beacon of hope.





    With ardent zeal and vivacious passion, Assam observes New Year with a new ray of hope amid the prevailing Covid-19 pandemic. Temples and shrines are flooded with devotees as people pray for the year ahead, seeking blessings from the almighty for a prosperous and a fruitful year.

    Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma shared a message to the people of Assam with a clip, wishing all a Happy New Year, “I wish everyone a Happy New Year. The New Year rings in endless possibilities. So people have high hopes and aspirations of the New Year. Our state has a rich heritage. Our strength lies in traditions and cultures of the various communities. We have to strengthen the unit among tribes and communities in the New Year. I also hope the New Year will inspire our people to work hard and take Assam to new heights of peace, prosperity and development.”





    Assam also saw huge footfall at various tourist spots, as families thronged to national parks and other heritage sites to ring in the New Year with fun, happiness and togetherness.





    Every year Assam observes New Year with great fervor and enthusiasm. But since 2019, New Year celebrations has seen a graded observance due to the Covid-19 pandemic.





    Picnicers thronged to picnic spots in Guwahati and nearby areas to end the year and welcome the new with community feasting and merry-making.

    Unlike its previous years, this year not a single accident has been reported as per reports and all thanks to the selfless work and responsibilities being carried out by the state police force and security personnel, in their campaign against drunken driving as Assam observes New Year 2022 with a new ray of hope, and a new beginning.
