Sukanya Borah was reportedly asked up to 25 written questions, but she failed to bring up the passport while she was being questioned, according to sources.
Digital Desk: On Wednesday, the investigating team permitted tainted ACS officer Sukanya Borah to depart after yet another lengthy interrogation session related to the continuing investigation into the MPLAD scandal.
According to sources, Sukanya Borah was questioned by the investigative team for seven hours today and was forced to respond in writing to their questions.
However, before departing today, the suspended assistant district commissioner (ADC) of the Kamrup district chose not to engage with the media figures.
Sukanya Borah was reportedly asked up to 25 written questions, but she failed to bring up the passport while she was being questioned, according to sources.
It has also come to light that she was questioned about her family, and some of them were summoned in for questioning as a result.
Sukanya Borah has been charged with amassing assets in the names of family members and relatives that are out of proportion to her income.
In addition, it has been stated that more staff members of the Kamrup district commissioner office, situated in Amingaon, have been called by the officials over this issue.
It should be mentioned that on Tuesday, December 12, the Chief Minister's Vigilance Cell conducted a raid at the home of Sukanya Borah, who had been suspended due to her involvement in the MPLAD fraud in Assam.
The Members of Parliament Local Area Development (MPLAD) money was accused of funding irregularities in the projects carried out by Kamrup Metro's Additional District Commissioner (ADC), Sukanya Borah, who was suspended in March of this year.
The Gauhati High Court denied Borah's request in May for anticipatory release about the case.
Funds from Ajit Kumar Bhuyan's MPLAD fund, a Rajya Sabha MP, reportedly went towards constructing a road in Barpeta, Assam. Nevertheless, the payment was received before the completion of 75% of the job. Four suspended officials had approved the payment before the road work reached 75% complete, according to the scandal that was discovered during an investigation by the CM's Special Vigilance unit.
The investigative authority summoned former Assam minister of state Ranee Narah in September to question her about her role in a fraudulent scheme. She is alleged to have embezzled money meant to build hand pumps in Jorhat.
