AIUDF MLA helps arrested land brokers get released from police custody; garland and escorts them to

Hailakandi: In a major crackdown on the 'dalal raj' continuing in the state of Assam, the Assam Police arrested more than 453 ‘land dalals’ (land brokers) in an overnight raid, from different parts of the state, on the instruction of Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma.

The Chief Minister in a tweet said that 453 land brokers have been picked up so far. “453 land brokers picked up so far in continuing raids by @assampolice in our concerted pledge to end #AssamFightsDalaraj. This notorious practice of brokers/dalals in revenue offices harassing commoners must end. Our fight against nefarious activities will go on relentlessly,” he said in the tweet.

Amid this, a pic has gone viral on social media where two 'land dalals', who were earlier arrested by the police, have been released after receiving pressure from the MLA. The incident took place in Hailakandi, where a total of 4 land brokers were arrested, upon receiving information about their illegal activities.

A protest broke out in front of the Algapur police station, where the supporters of the land brokers demanded the release of the arrested personnel.

Later showing support for the land brokers, AIUDF MLA from Algapur, Nizam Uddin Choudhury pressured the police to release two arrested land brokers - Saraf Uddin Borbhuiyan and Anwar Uddin Laskar.

After the release of the 'dalal' duo from police custody, their supporters waiting outside the police station garlanded them and celebrated the moment with firecrackers and drum beats.

Later they were taken to the MLA's residence where both of them received a warm welcome from Choudhury.

So, it is often said, 'It happens only in India'.
