    Digital Desk: The Assam Pradesh Youth Congress (APYC) president Angkita Dutta was arrested during a protest at Rajib Bhawan today. Moreover, sources have stated that the newly elected president of APYC has been injured while police personnel dragged her from the barricade.

    Assam police arrested APYC president Angkita Dutta for protesting against police firing in Nagaon. Currently, Dutta is under police custody at Basistha Police Station.

    Assam Pradesh Youth Congress staged a protest at Rajib Bhawan today against police firing on former Nagaon College General Secretary Kirti Kamal Bora. The protest was also joined by other members of the Youth Congress committee in Guwahati today.

    Kirti Kamal Bora claimed he was driving home when he observed a group of police officers beating up on someone, and when he asked what was going on, the officers allegedly verbally abused him.

    According to Nagaon police officer Anand Mishra, Bora has been suspected of being involved in the illegal narcotics trade and was shot because he assaulted a police officer.

    "Our cops went there after receiving information that narcotics peddlers were present. There was a brawl. Our cops were attacked first. Therefore they retaliated. We'll look into it further," stated Anand Mishra.

    Moreover, an FIR has been reportedly lodged against Kirti Kamal Bora by SI Pradip Bania. Bania has mentioned in the FIR that Kirti Kamal Bora was allegedly involved in a drug case.

    However, Bora's family, friends, and opposition parties called the police version of the happening "fake".

    APYC also staged a protest in Nagaon on Tuesday against police firing on Kirti Kamal Bora, ex-gs of Nagaon College. The protest was under the initiative of the Nagaon District Youth Congress.

    Several Congress leaders attended the protest, including Youth Congress leader Angkita Dutta, opposition vice president Rockybul Hussain, MLA Nurul Hooda, Shivamni Bora.

    A memorandum was issued to the deputy commissioner demanding justice for Kirti Kamal Bora, who was injured in the encounter. They demanded justice against the police firing on Kirti Kamal Bora.

    The accused, Kirti Kamal Bora, is undergoing treatment at Gauhati Medical College and Hospital.
