Digital Desk: Sivasagar MLA Akhil Gogoi praised Assam Water Resources Minister Pijush Hazarika for saying that the work of the Rs 270-crore mega erosion prevention project proposed by the World Bank and ADB will be implemented in the second phase.
The change comes after Hazarika took stock of the flood situation in the district on September 3 at the request of Gogoi.
The MLA expressed his joy over the development and praised Hazarika as an effective minister for announcing an amount of Rs 20 crore for the empowerment of the Mathauri of Dikhau and Disang and Rs 6 crore for the other Brahmaputra areas.
The Sivasagar MLA also thanked Hazarika for announcing that the second phase of the World Bank and ADB's proposed Rs 270 crore major erosion prevention project will be implemented.
While speaking to reporters, Gogoi said, ''Pijush Hazarika, who works on a field basis, is a very efficient minister. He can understand the problems of the people and also raise the issues very properly in the Assembly.”
Since the Minister personally inspected the damage caused by floods in Sivasagar, the MLA hoped that the divisional minister would act quickly to address the flooding and erosion issues in the Brahmaputra, Dikhou, Disang, and Darika rivers in the Sivasagar district.
