    Assam: BJP Worker Arrested for Attack on Couple in Sivasagar

    Digital Desk: The primary accused of the attack on a couple in the Sivasagar district was arrested by the Assam Police on Monday.


    The prime accused, identified as Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) worker Angshuman Borah, was arrested from Sivasagar's Gaurisagar area.


    Angshuman Borah served as the general secretary of the Gaurisagar BJP unit's Yuba Morcha. Reportedly, a case has been filed against him at the Gaurisagar Police Station.


    Meanwhile, Angshuman is reportedly suspended by the BJP.


    On Sunday, a couple was attacked by the youth for not going to the public meeting of national party president JP Nadda in Sivasagar district.


    The injured couple has been identified as Purnima Changmai and Tamash Changmai, who was saved by the locals and rushed to Sivasagar Civil Hospital for immediate medical care. 


    The victims lodged a complaint against Angshuman Borah for attacking them.


    The victim woman claimed that Angshuman entered their house, tore off her clothes, pulled her to the road, and brutally attacked her.
