Guwahati: Over 51.65 percent of voters cast their votes till 1 pm on Saturday in the five constituencies of Gossaigaon, Bhabanipur, Tamulpur, Mariani and Thowra, where voting is underway.
As per official reports, till 1 pm, the highest voter turnout has been recorded in Bahabanipur – 62 percent, Gossaigaon-58 percent, Thowra-55 percent, Tamulpur- 48 percent, Mariani- 36 percent, respectively.
The constituency with the highest number of electors out of five is Tamulpur LAC, with 2, 17,432 electors. The constituency having the lowest number of electors is Thowra LAC having 1, 15,971 electors.

As per the Election Commission of India, 7, 96,456 general electors will exercise their right to franchise, of which 4, 03,374 are males; 3, 93,078 are females and 4 are transgender. Apart from these, there are also 3,165 service voters. 8, 864 electors are above 80 years of age and 4, 998 fall under the PwD category.
A total of 31 candidates are in the fray, out of which eight in each Gossaigaon and Bhabanipur LAC, six in Tamulpur, four in Mariani and five in Thowra LAC.
The voting process for the five constituencies started at 7 am and will continue till 5 pm.
For the by-election Election Commission of India (ECI) has used live monitoring and webcasting tools. As per the direction of ECI, Assam Chief Electoral Officer and District Election Officer were assigned for monitoring the poll stations.
Webcasting has been done in all five constituencies; out of these 285 are in Gossaigaon, 213 at 41-Bhabanipur, 322 at 58-Tamulpur, 183 at 101-Mariani, and 173 at 107-Thowra constituencies.
