Digital Desk: The Chief Judicial Magistrate (CJM) Court granted bail to Goalpara MLA Aftab Uddin Mollah, who was arrested on Tuesday night for hurling communal remarks against Hindu priests and saints. The court's ruling came after Mollah appeared before it on November 9.

The Assam Pradesh Congress Committee (APCC) issued a show cause notice to Mollah on November 8 for his derogatory remarks towards the Hindu community, and they have now initiated legal proceedings against him.

The Congress party stated in an official circular, "Regarding Congress MLA Aftab Uddin Mollah, legal proceedings have been initiated, and steps have been taken from a party disciplinary perspective."

The actions taken by Congress leadership in reaction to Mollah's contentious remarks reflect the party's commitment to maintaining discipline and ensuring that its members behave in a polite and inclusive manner. In keeping with this, the circular also instructed all Congress leaders and employees not to make any media statements without prior approval.

The controversy over Aftab Uddin Mollah's remarks began when the APCC President, Bhupen Borah, filed a show-cause notice to the Goalpara MLA for making highly nasty remarks about Hindu priests, especially the state's Namgharias.
